My husband loves to host gatherings and get-togethers at our home. Whether it be a game night, connect group, or just to catch a game, he is always ready. The thought of having multiple people over gives me anxiety. But if you’re like me, don’t worry. Here are some simple and useful recipes for hosting a variety of small gatherings. These should cut down at least some of your overthinking on what to serve. As always, make sure you confirm any food allergies prior to meal prep.
# 1 Charcuterie board
Who would’ve thought that my love for Lunchables as a kid would carry over into adulthood? I love a good charcuterie board. There are a lot of places that offer a variety of premade ones, but we love to get creative and make our own. Gather your favorite cheeses and meats and go wild with a spread. We also like to use shaped wooden boards for fun. You can add fruits and crackers as well or your favorite spread.
# 2 Chicken Buffalo Dip
This is always a crowd favorite and it’s so simple to make. All you need is 2 cups of shredded chicken, ½ cup of ranch, hot sauce to taste, ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and an 8 oz package of cream cheese. Put all these ingredients in your slow cooker on low heat for an hour or on high for 20 min. Don’t forget to stir occasionally. I use rotisserie chicken and my hand mixer to shred. You can also use canned chicken.
# 3 BBQ Meatballs
A go-to and simple recipe. For this recipe, you will need 20 oz of fully-cooked frozen meatballs, 1 cup of barbeque sauce, and 1 cup of grape jam. Mix the BBQ sauce and jam in a medium bowl. Add the meatballs and the contents from your medium bowl into your slow cooker. Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2. You can enjoy it right away!
Remember to have fun!
Hosting can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. Most of these recipes are simple and can all be thrown into your slow cooker which gives you time to tidy up while cooking.
