Most kids love popsicles, especially after playing outside in the Miami heat. Parents, however, might not love pumping their kids full of added sugar and artificial colors. These easy-to-make, real fruit watermelon pops are a great substitute your kids will love.
In full transparency though, I do believe all foods can fit into our diet. It’s totally okay to let your kids have sugary popsicles too. I certainly let my kids have them just as often as I do the healthier types.
One of the best ways to get your kids excited to eat healthy alternatives to their favorite foods is to get them involved in the production process. These watermelon pops are so easy to make almost any age kid will be able to help.
For my kids there is something just fun about fruit, in its mostly whole form, being frozen and eaten on a stick.
After spending some time out in the Miami heat my kids can come inside and mow down nearly a dozen of these frozen treats. And I certainly let them at it. Watermelon is very hydrating because of its high water and potassium content. It also gives you a healthy dose of vitamin C, vitamin A, carotenoids, and phytonutrients.
If you want to add a little Latin flair to these already delicious pops, sprinkle some Tajin on top before enjoying.
