With motherhood, comes a lack of time and energy.  We strive to be the “best mom ever,” but many times it is at the detriment of our own health.  In-home services may seem like a luxury but many times they are a true necessity.  A good trainer can come directly to us, make us accountable, and make us fit. A great trainer transforms our bodies and gives us the tools to make it even better for life.

Personal Training is the most efficient ways to achieve a workout that is specific to your needs and to have someone that you feel accountable to that will keep you on track.  There are thousands of trainers with various specialties. Some trainers have amazing credentials and others with years of experience, but who do you choose?

We are all genetically different and a trainer needs to be able to recognize those differences when creating a fitness program for your needs and goals.  A trainer with years of experience playing sports and training themselves does not make them qualified to train someone else.  A solid understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, sports injuries, and various modalities of training is imperative.  Although trainers are not licensed by the state, they are encouraged to become certified by a respected educational organization. Organizations such as ACSM, NASM, ACE, and NSCA require additional study to complete the certification process.

When choosing a trainer look for the following:

  • Someone who holds a degree in a fitness related field and one certification or someone with two or more advanced level certifications
  • Attends yearly fitness conferences for specialized and advanced training
  • Helps you set realistic and measurable goals
  • Chooses exercises that are relative to your goals, teaches you to execute the movement correctly, and continuously reevaluates your form and technique
  • Gives you 110% of their undivided attention during every training sessionPersonal Training Pilates Miami Moms Blog Choosing Personal Trainer

A fantastic physique and a vivacious personality can get the best of anyone, so choose your trainer wisely.  Physical fitness can give us strength, improve posture, and prolong our lives, but it can also leave us with years of aches and pains from poor technique and training.  Interview your trainer as you would a doctor and your body will thank you in the end.
