This post is brought to you by our sponsors Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
Since the onset of COVID-19 and physical distancing, the adoption of telehealth has risen dramatically – particularly in South Florida. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is offering convenient and accessible pediatric virtual care for both non-emergency, urgent-care level visits, as well as certain specialists’ appointments.
Through Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Virtual Care, patient families benefit from pediatric telehealth consultations from the comfort of their home. Patient families can connect virtually with Nicklaus Children’s providers via video conferencing from their computer or mobile device.
How it Works
1. Download the Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Virtual Care app for Apple or Google Play.
2. Launch the app and create an account.
For an enhanced level of care, pediatric telehealth services comprise the following:
Pediatric Urgent Care Virtual Consultations
As an alternative to urgent care center level care, you can connect with a Nicklaus Children’s Hospital provider for non-emergency pediatric care.
Telehealth Specialty Appointments & Services
Telehealth services are available for certain appointment types depending on the nature of the condition, or reason for the visit. Over 20 specialties are currently offering appointments. Additional services include mental health, rehabilitation, nutrition, and more.
Telehealth services are also available for families whose infants are discharged from the Nicklaus Children’s NICU, which connects them to providers from the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital NICU department.
What to Expect
During a visit, families can expect to receive a diagnosis, second medical opinion and a treatment plan through the telemedicine platform. Prescriptions, if needed, are sent to your pharmacy of choice.
