I don’t know about you, but I love any excuse to be able to hang out with the girls and speak to other adults. This need for connection and community has become even more important with the current pandemic. This is why I love Galentine’s Day! It is a day where you get to show love to the amazing ladies in your life.

What is Galentine’s Day?

Galentine’s day is a fun “fake” holiday that is celebrated on February 13th and is only 10 years old. It is for friends everywhere and does not discriminate based on relationship status or sex. It is a day to shower your closest friends with love and attention.

Galentine’s Day came about from Season 2 Episode 16 of Parks and Recreation in 2010. In the episode named Galentine’s Day, Leslie Knope and her friends left their significant others at home and got together “to kick it, breakfast-style.” It is just “Ladies celebrating ladies,” and then the new holiday was born.

Galentine Celebration Ideas

As I write this, not all these ideas are 100% possible for everyone but you can do all these virtually also.

Breakfast Day

You can go back to the roots of this holiday and either visit your favorite breakfast place or make breakfast at home.

Spa Day

You can either reserve a day at the spa for your group or host a spa day at home with face masks, fancy water, and spa music.

Movie Day

You can host a movie marathon at home with popcorn and candy included. Everyone can vote on their favorite romantic comedies or whatever movies you want to watch.

Dinner & Drinks

With this one there are so many options. You can have a potluck style dinner where everyone brings their own dish, you can order take out, or you can go out to eat. Just with the stay-at-home option don’t forget the drinks.

If you want out of the house, we have 2 options for that. As a mom, I need to get out of the house and speak to adults every once in a while, and I know I can’t be alone.

Option 1- You can call ahead to your favorite restaurant to reserve a table for your party.

Option 2- Miami Mom Collective’s Galentine’s Night Out. This event is at The Doral Yard on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 at 8 pm. You can bring the girls or just go alone and trust me you will leave with friends. When you purchase a ticket you not only get to hang out with some amazing ladies but you even get a welcome margarita. You can CLICK HERE to get your ticket to the event.

Vision Board Day

Have your friends come over for some personal development. Have everyone bring a poster board and some magazines. You can spend hours chatting and swapping magazines while building your vision for the future. For information on how to make a vision board, you can check out this article.

Crafts Day

This one is always a winner for me because we can chat while we make something cute to bring home to the family. It doesn’t even have to be expensive. You can just stop by the Dollar Tree for materials. The other awesome part about this option, and the one above, is that you have something physical to remind you of your fun day with the ladies.

Karaoke Day

You can host a karaoke party. Everyone can come over and have fun in a judgment-free zone. Now let’s be honest! I can’t sing to save my life, but it doesn’t mean I won’t. Karaoke to me is an instant stress zapper.

Galentine’s Day is a celebration of friendship and remembering the people that are there for you. You get to have fun and just vent/speak to other adults. Don’t forget, the most important part is that you have each other and enjoy yourselves.
