Mother’s Day Crafts: DIY Gifts to Make With Your Little Ones

5

Moms, grandmas, aunties… they all deserve to celebrate Mother’s Day. Giving a special gift doesn’t mean that it has to be purchased–sometimes special means handmade and heartfelt. Since going to the spa is off the table (for now), along with privacy and all those other luxuries that moms want… perhaps it’s time to get crafty! Some of my favorite gifts from my kids are handmade. So, in true form, I am sharing a few of my favorite crafts to do with the kiddos for Mother’s Day.

Me & My Littles

From Grandma’s Gallery

I love to do activities with my kids and together we have created a gallery in my mom’s house. Below are the crafts that we have created for Grandma (aka- Nama) during the last few years.

These relatively simple crafts include the following supplies:

  • Construction paper
  • Finger paint
  • Crayons
  • Sharpie (for you, the grown up- not your tot)
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Craft flowers
  • A photograph of your little
  • Pipe cleaners

All you need is some decent penmanship and cute baby toes. Dip those feet in paint and carefully print them on the paper in the shape of a heart. Once dried, write with your marker (I used a sharpie) your sweet note. I wish I dated this one on the front, but who could forget those tiny toes from 2015??

Crafty Flower Bouquet

Do you have craft flowers laying around? Have your little one help you glue them on a piece of construction paper. Once that is done, use their sweet little hand to make a hand print underneath the flowers with some paint. Once dry, carefully draw in the stems. Voila! Instant personalized bouquet!

Personalized Flower

Use scissors to cut out the shape of a flower with one color of construction paper. With the second color, cut out a circle for the center of the flower. If your little one is good with scissors, draw out the lines and let them cut out the shapes (remember to supervise, the flower shape can get tricky!). With a sweet photo of your little one, cut out their face to add to the center of the flower (I chose a heart shape, but you can do any shape). Have your little one glue the flower pieces together. Add pipe cleaners for the stem and leaf to complete your personalized masterpiece!

Bouquet Hand Prints

To start, have your little one dip their hand in green paint. Help them make their handprint carefully on construction paper. Wash hands and then choose different colors for the flowers. Let them use their fingertips to create the center of the flowers and flower petals. When the bouquet is done, use construction paper to cut out a flower pot. Have your little one glue it on. If you have more than one child, be sure the write their name on their flower pot so you know whose adorable artwork you are looking at and enjoy your finished product!
