Hey, Homestead and Miami-Dade mommas! Did you know that there is a Cybrarium right here in our very own backyard? Homestead Cybrarium officially opened its doors back in March of 2021.
What is the Homestead Cybrarium and what is the big deal?
The Cybrarium is a library that not only offers your traditional learning but also has new technology to help you do so. This belongs to the Miami-Dade Public Library System and is absolutely free! Let me repeat that mommas, F-R-E-E, FREE! The only catch, if you can even call it that, is that you will need to apply for a Cybrarium card in order to take advantage of all the Cybrarium has to offer. This is not the same as your Miami-Dade Public Library card. The great part is, you don’t have to be a resident of Homestead. You are only required to be a resident of Miami-Dade County.
Fun for all ages
While visiting make sure you check out their virtual reality learning. VR is one of my older girl’s favorite activities. Once again, absolutely free with a valid Cybrarium card. The VR is scheduled for 30 minutes at a time and it allows them to choose from a series of experiences. They can go from exploring NYC by swinging from the rooftops as Spiderman to exploring the Sistine Chapel ceiling in the blink of an eye.
As a toddler mom as well, there are also interactive gaming screens where the little ones can play matching card games or interactive games on the walls by the kids’ book sections.
Additionally, there is also a stage where events are held for kids of all ages.
The bookworm in me takes this time to find a good book while the girls are off into their own adventures.
Events
Another wonderful thing about the Cybrarium is that they’re always having FREE events. Have I mentioned that you can spend an entire day here and not spend a dime? Even the parking is validated! These events are for the entire family. From STEAM Saturdays to Anime Club for teenagers, there is a wide array of events and activities for kids of all ages. The Cybrarium even offers free English classes for non-English speakers. These events do change every month, so make sure to sign up for their newsletter. You can also follow them on Instagram where you’ll be able to stay updated on all the events and classes they have to offer.
So if you’re ever in the area and want a free educational experience with the kiddos, stop on by! You can even check out Robert is Here when you’re done and grab some delicious shakes for the ride home.
