Are you in need of some Free Family Fun?
South Florida has many hidden treasures, the key is to keep your eyes and ears open. You have to dare to explore! I am constantly looking for something different, a new adventure, or something new to try with the family.
My son had gone on a field trip last school year to the South Florida Center for Percussive Arts #SFCPA. He came back inspired. When I searched it out online I saw that they offered a family event so I set it on the calendar. Every Friday they open up their facility to the family for a free drumming extravaganza starting at 7:00pm.
We arrived just in time and received a warm welcome from the owner, Brandon Cruz. He showed us around and took us into the most amazing percussion room I have ever been in. We were surrounded by drums of all kinds, and an array of other instruments that I have never experienced before. This was enough to bring along excitement to whatever came next.
Brandon takes pride in opening his facility to all ages. Music is to be shared!
Our class featured several hand held instruments, bongos, drums, and more.
He patiently taught each of us our unique tune. Then we progressively had us put it all together. The next thing you know, we were playing a popular salsa tune and having a blast!
These are the family moments to cherish, the ones that your kids talk about for days.
This was the kind of adventure we will surely repeat. Thank You Brandon for showing us we all have a little rhythm deep down inside!!
