Bargain Hunting: Money Saving Tips for Online Shopping

0

Who doesn’t love online shopping?? National Bargain Hunting Week is August 2-8, 2021 this year. I’d love to give you a few tips on saving money online shopping! In-person shopping is great when you’re feeling up to it, but there’s a great sense of convenience when you can online shop in that messy bun and PJs. Making purchases from the comfort of your own bed is definitely a win in my book. So, what’s even better? Saving money while doing so. I hope you can use some of these tips during National Bargain Hunting Week and in the future to save money and even make some money while shopping.

Use cashback websites like Rakuten.

There are websites and apps that give you cashback on the online purchases you will already make. National Bargain Hunting Week is the perfect time for you to start making money on while you do your online shopping! After making an account, you open up the Rakuten website, and use it to click through to the website you’re going to be shopping at.  Rakuten lets you know how much cash back you will be getting back and within a few days, you’ll see it in your account. After a few months, you get paid via check or PayPal. It’s as easy as that! I personally vouch for this website, I’ve made over $900 over the years of using this website. Fair warning, not all websites offer cashback but I’ve found most do. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Fetch Rewards is similar to Rakuten but works a little differently.

With Fetch Rewards, you can connect your email and it will scan your emails for receipts of purchases and will give you a base of 25 points. Some purchases will have bonuses and you will see them reflected on your account. The other way the app works is with special offers on groceries or personal care items, amongst other things. You can earn thousands of points by just taking photos of your supermarket or drug store receipts with special offers. Accumulating the points then allows you to redeem them for gift cards to Amazon, Starbucks, and tons of other retailers!

Check your credit cards for special promotions.

Remember to always check your credit cards for monthly or quarterly deals from certain websites, categories, or retailers. Some cards will give you extra cashback bonuses for online shopping. Other cards will give you credits on your statements for purchasing a certain amount from a retailer, ie: $10 back when you spend $100+ at Best Buy. Always make sure you’re using the right card for your purchases!

Search for coupons on RetailMeNot or Rakuten.

Before shopping online at your regular retailers, make sure you check coupon websites like RetailMeNot or even on Rakuten. Many times, there are coupon codes available for 10% or more on the websites you’ll be shopping at. If you’re not signed up for promotional emails from all the retailers, this is the perfect way to check for deals or bargains. No need to limit these coupons during National Bargain Hunting Week! Use the coupon codes during check out and you may get lucky with free shipping or percentage off.

Join Amazon Family.

Amazon Family offers you up to 20% off on diapers and wipes when you set up 5 subscriptions per month on Subscribe and Save (you can cancel subscriptions anytime).  This is great to use when there’s a great deal on either. You can cancel the “subscription” later or keep it going so you never run out of diapers or wipes.

Amazon No Rush Shipping.

Choose to forego 2-Day shipping and you can get a $1.00 Amazon digital reward to use on an Amazon Video rental or a Kindle book or more. This is also great for being a little more eco-friendly because generally Amazon will bundle those purchases into a specific day’s delivery. I talk a little more about this on my previous post: Eco-Friendlier Moms and Families: Quick Ways to Be a Little Greener.

National Bargain Hunting Week Number One Tip.

Even though there’s an amazing deal on something, do not just give in to impulse buys. It is counterproductive to spend your money on things that sound like good deals but are not necessary purchases!

I wish you the best of luck during National Bargain Hunting Week and beyond! Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any follow up questions. Don’t forget to leave me a comment on any of your musts for saving money while online shopping!
