The 2020 Census: What You Need to Know

0

Have you completed the 2020 Census yet? If not, it is not too late. For the first time, you can complete your census by mail, phone or online. The 2020 Census is the first U.S. census to offer a full internet response option and the first to extensively use technology instead of paper. I completed ours online a few weeks ago and it only took a few minutes. After receiving the notification in the mail, I logged onto the site 2020census.gov and entered the access code provided. From there, I simply followed each step and submitted our family’s data. I was done in less than ten minutes.

Why should you complete the 2020 Census?

Fact: 2020 Census data will help inform how billions of dollars are distributed to states and communities every year for the next 10 years.

Fact: The Census Bureau is bound by Title 13 of the U.S. Code to keep your information confidential.

Fact: The 2020 Census will determine how many congressional representatives each state gets.

Census Day: April 1st

April 1 is Census Day, a key reference date. When completing the census, you will include everyone living in your home on April 1, 2020. Census Day is not the deadline for finishing the census. Encourage your friends and family to complete the census by spreading the word and sharing on your social media pages. During these difficult times, it may be harder to count everyone so let’s do our part and spread the word. Let’s make it count. Learn more at 2020census.gov
