It’s the First Day of Fall and I’m Loving It!

It’s here, the first day of fall.

It’s the first day of fall!! Wow, can you believe it, that we’re here already? It feels like April was only yesterday. But I sure am glad that we’re here. This is my favorite time of the year. Well, except for Christmas, nothing can beat Christmas.

fall has always been my favorite season. the time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the gRand finale.

I love this season.

Is it just me, or do you also love it when fall comes? Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons. It has something fresh to it. New beginnings, a fresh start. The beginning of something new. This year fall will bring some unique challenges. But I’m determined to embrace them all.

For me, fall has always meant chunky sweaters, beautiful colors, cold, crisp air. But after moving to Miami fall has become a little bit different. But different can be nice, and fall here in Miami sure is nice! There are so many fun and cozy things to do. At home and around the city.

Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.

Pumpkin spice, and everything nice.

One of the first things that tell me that the new season is here is when Starbucks starts serving PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE!! I seriously LOVE them!! I could have one every day, maybe even twice a day. The smell, and the warm spicy taste, it’s like a sip from Heaven. And it sure gets me into that fall feeling.

Let’s make s’mores!

One of the best things about living in Miami is that you can enjoy the outdoors all year round, though the summer can be hot and muggy. But when the nights get a little bit darker, and the wind feels a little bit cooler, you know that the first day of fall is here.

One of the first things my husband bought when we moved into our house was a firepit. I’m sure some people back home think we’re crazy for having that here in Miami. But there is something magical about gathering around the fire. Watching the flames and making s’mores. If you are looking into buying a firepit yourselves I highly recommend Solostove. They have a minimalistic design, and best of all, there is nearly no smoke. And maybe even enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. For us, that is the perfect family time.

A corn maze and pumpkin patch, fun fall activities for the whole family.

If you haven’t heard the news yet, here it is. The Berry Farm is renovating, and on September the 26th, they’re opening up!! So make sure to mark the date on your calendar. I’m so excited about this. The new venue looks AMAZING! We’re talking fresh veggies, juicing, shakes, delicious food. Of course both a corn maze AND a pumpkin patch. And if you like sunflowers, you can also get those.

And as if that’s not enough. They have a lot of fun activities for the kids. They have this super fun corn pit, and my 4-year-old loves it. There’s also have a big play area and a bounce house. I mean, who doesn’t love a bounce house?! And on top of that, you get to spend a whole day out in the fresh country air.

We still have a lot to be thankful for.

There is nothing that says fall more than Thanksgiving. In Norway, it’s not normal to celebrate Thanksgiving. But our family started doing that many years before we moved here. I think it’s so important to stop and focus on our blessings, especially in a time like this. Even though the world may look and feel a bit different, there is always some beauty in it. So let’s try and focus on that.

So this year I plan on making Thanksgiving a magical night for my family. I’m going to decorate our backyard with lots of lights, fill up our lounge sofa with soft cushions, and have the firepit burning. Then I’m going to serve dinner outside under the stars, and we’re going to talk about everything we’re thankful for that we have in our lives. I’m sure that it will be a night to remember.
