Miami Mom Collective Welcomes MIA Mom Alexa Gonzalez

Meet Alexa Gonzalez

“Alexa, what’s the weather?,” “Alexa, play Cocomelon!” These days, my name is an easy one to remember. Anyway, hi! My name is Alexa (yes, like that thing) and I am a Miami mom! Unlike my electronic counterpart, this Alexa is powered by coffee and cuddles. I spend my days between the roles of #girlmom, “fire wife,” and registered nurse and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Miami

As a second generation “Miamian,” (my mom was born and raised here too), I grew up going to the beach, eating croquetas, and listening to Gloria Estefan. Before coming into my roles of mom, nurse, and wife, I was a dance teacher at a well-known local studio. I was able to hang on to my love for dance through college, while studying for what would become my career. I have actually come full circle, working as a labor and delivery nurse at the same Miami hospital where I was born. My husband, a City of Miami firefighter, is also a native. Does this mean our kids are destined to be super-305-Dolphins-‘Canes-Marlins-domino-playing-sun-tanning Miami girls? Probably.

Mom

“Mama” (or “mommy” – depending on the mood of a certain two year old) is a title I am proud to carry. I became a mother at the end of 2018. My smart, funny, playful toddler, Giselle, has filled my life with endless joy. About 21 months later, in 2020, my heart doubled in size as a I got to experience it again when my sweet and smiley pandemic baby, Charlotte, was born. Becoming a mother is a once in a lifetime experience that I am lucky to experience – albeit from the outside – on a weekly basis. Working as a Labor and Delivery Nurse, helping mothers during such a pivotal time in their lives has become the fuel to the fire that is my passion for all things “mom.” Pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, baby matters, toddler things – you name it – I’m here for you about it!

Collective

“They say it takes a village” is a phrase commonly expressed in regard to the care of a child, but what about taking care of a mom? A mother needs her village too. A mom’s “village” may be less about diapers and more about mimosas (at least that’s where you’ll find me), but it’s a vital one nonetheless. As a new member of the Miami Mom Collective, I look forward to immersing myself in this wonderful community of moms.

  2. Alexa!!!!!! This incredible momma and nurse delivered my first born 5 years ago. She was a recent hire and was training at that time. Her kindness and empathy is something I will forever be grateful for and will definitely never forget. Thank you Alexa!
