Miami Mom Collective Welcomes MIA Mom Katrina Fraga-Torres

Hi, Mommies! My name is Katrina Fraga-Torres, and I am so excited to be able to share and connect with other moms. I never knew how true the saying “it takes a village” was until I had my babies.

Miami

I am a Miami girl born and raised. My grandparents came from Cuba in 1963 and Miami became home. I have grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins… no one really moves away. We have created very strong Miami roots. I attended the University of Central Florida and would drive home at least every other weekend with my twin sister.

There is something very special about Miami that we natives may take for granted. The food, the people, and the stories our city has are one of a kind. I love being able to raise my kids in a city full of culture.

Mom

“Mommy” is by far my favorite title. I have a 6-year-old son named Tyler, a 4-year-old daughter named Olivia, and two angel babies in heaven.  Becoming a mom has been such a life-changing experience. I became a mom before most of my friends and I had to learn how to navigate motherhood and life. I dove headfirst into all things “mom.” After having my daughter, I made the difficult decision to leave my teaching career and become a stay-at-home mom (with a lot of side projects). Being a stay-at-home mom evolved into being a stay-at-home aunt and I can say helping raise my 2 nephews has been one of my greatest joys. My hands are full with a 6, 4, 3, and 1-year-old and I wouldn’t change a thing.

I was married at the very early age of 22. It was a wonderful learning experience and it molded me into the woman I am today. After 9 years of marriage, I am currently going through a divorce. Just when you think you have life figured out, it throws you a curveball. I think it is extremely important to be open and honest about every part of life (even the not-so-great parts) in relationships and motherhood.

Collective

I am excited about the next chapters in my life, and I am even more excited to share them with other moms. There is nothing better than knowing someone was there for you and that you can also be there for someone in the good and bad.

Miami Mom Collective is an amazing resource for moms in all stages of motherhood. We are either “getting there” or “have been there” and being able to be part of a community to share with is amazing!

  1. Hi Katrina! Welcome to MMC, as you said some of us have been there. I got divorced when my youngest was 3.5 years old. It’s rough, but you’ll make it! Looking forward to connecting with you.
