Hi Miami Mommas! I’m Kristen Llorca, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Miami Mom Collective writing team.
Miami
Consider me one of those unicorns you may just catch a glimpse of if you spend enough time here. You know – born and raised in Dade. Like many natives, I took off in my twenties, spending some time in Valencia, Spain, and a few years in New York City before making my way back home. What I love about life in Miami, is that each part of this diverse and sweeping city is a completely different world. From Little Haiti to Wynwood to Key Biscayne – there’s truly something for everyone no matter where you’re from.
Mom
Most people who learn my story think I am incredibly brave, but honestly, I think it was mostly naivete. For much of my mom-life I was a solo-parent, who started a business when my child was one. After leaving a painfully unfulfilling career in television, I began to teach yoga and meditation to children in schools (yes, my parents thought I’d completely lost my mind). All the sleepless nights, exhaustion, anxiety, planning, learning, doing, was brutal and yet, completely worth it. I would do it all again in a heartbeat because it’s what led me to my current reality – happily married to my handsome Italian husband and living with my brilliantly artistic daughter, while managing a family wellness and travel business I adore.
Collective
If there’s such a thing as a social introvert, then I’m that. I love sharing and learning with others, but I need my alone time to recharge. This is why a community like Miami Mom Collective is so important to me. The Collective allows me to share with and learn from a community of moms on my own terms. It’s like a party you can join whenever you like, and exit without having to use the “kid excuse.” It’s only been a week and I can already tell that this is a group of intelligent, dynamic, bomb moms I’m privileged to call my people.
So Awesome!! Go MIA moms!
Welcome! So excited to read your blogs! ❤️
Thanks for the warm welcome!
