Hi, fellow Miami moms! My name is Isabella but people usually call me Bella. I am more than excited to be part of the Miami Moms Blog team.

Miami

I moved to Miami in 2012 and it has been the best decision in my life. I love everything about this tropical city, its diverse people and its eclectic neighborhoods. My happy place is the beach: I like to call it my “island of bliss.” I was born and raised in Germany but my roots are half Middle Eastern. It tends to confuse Miami people that I look Hispanic and that my name is Spanish even though I am not.

I learned to assimilate very well here. I’ve learned Spanish especially the Miami slang well enough to get around. I love listening to Reggaeton music and I have become an expert in making Cuban coffee. They even started calling me “La Alemana mas Cubana” (the most Cuban German woman). I am hoping to teach my son to be proud of his multicultural heritage and to be accepting of different cultures.

Mi Amor

I originally moved here for my MBA degree. I felt so privileged to live in such a wonderful and diverse city especially since I love Latin culture. About two years after living here, I met my husband. He was born and raised in Miami to Cuban parents. Ever since we met, I used to drag him all across town to try out different restaurants, check out new sights, see different neighborhoods, etc. At the beginning, we would post about our activities on social media. But after I got so many messages from people who loved hearing about all these places, I decided to blog about Miami. I noticed how much I love writing and sharing experiences with others.

Mami Life

Becoming a mom has been my own personal renaissance. To be honest, I never really was quite the kids or baby person. I know it might sound terrible but I am committed to keeping it real here. Before I had my son I’d probably held less than a handful of babies in my arms. And that was not because I was particularly keen on doing so but more to not offend the parents. But everything changed when my son David was born in May 2018. My mom instincts kicked in immediately and have been growing ever since.

Despite working full-time, I took every opportunity I have had to go with him to baby-friendly events. We’ve gone to library readings, “mom and me” workouts, toddler gym and art classes and all sorts of mom events. There, I met a lot of Miami mom bloggers and influencers (including the amazing team of Miami Moms Blog). My priorities had changed now from wondering what new Miami hot spot to hit for brunch next to wondering how I give my son an incredible life and do everything necessary for his development. I re-focused my blogging and social media activities on my life as a parent. I absolutely love being a mom and feel so blessed to have this amazing network of mommies who live in Miami.
