Hey y’all! I’m Candice. Thanks for stopping by to get to know me on this post; I hope you’ll say hi! You can drop a comment below or send me a DM on Instagram @candicecarricarte

Sweet Home Miami

I moved to our vibrant city 12 years ago from Alabama and met my now-husband, who was born and raised here.  I love Miami and while I’m often asked about “culture shock,”  I can’t say I’ve experienced that!  Southern culture and Hispanic culture actually share many similarities… A love of family and food, for instance!

Although I didn’t speak Spanish when I moved here (funny story about that, better told in person so be sure to ask me about it when you see me), I found I enjoy learning the language and can usually hold my own. If you’ve ever felt frustrated by a language barrier, my advice is to let go of your ego, accept that you aren’t going to do it perfectly and try to have fun with it!  In my experience, people usually just appreciate that you are making an effort and will give you more grace than you’d expect.

Mi Vida

My husband and I have 4 children who were born in a span of 3.5 years (current ages 3-6) and two silly dogs. After the birth of my fourth child, I left my executive position with an international healthcare tech company (we had previously owned the company and sold it). It was immediately evident that I needed a creative outlet; I soon began blogging and micro-blogging (via Instagram captions). The online world of motherhood helped me feel more connected even when I wasn’t able to maintain the same social life IRL.

Today, I run a business that allows me to live my passion of helping women who want to live fully while growing their online businesses. I also provide support in the way of marketing plans, copywriting and business strategy.

In addition to various community service programs, I frequently volunteer at the school my children attend. While I laugh at “PTA Mom” jokes, I am also that mom! My kids love seeing me on campus and I enjoy investing my time where they spend most of their days. Truly, I consider it a privilege to be able to serve in this way.

Why I Love Miami Moms Blog

It’s a blessing to be able to connect with people online (what a time to be alive!). Even so, there remains sacred value in cultivating face-to-face relationships. Eye contact and hugs will never go out of style in my book. I love that Miami Moms Blog offers many opportunities for local moms to meet and get to know each other. Hopefully, I’ll meet you at one of those events!

Since I’m not from Miami, I had to actively seek friendships (“Mom Friend Dating” isn’t easy, AM I RIGHT) and found beautiful community with the women in MOPS, BSF and Miami Moms Blog. If you’ve experienced loneliness in your season as a mother, I encourage you to seek relationships IRL and not get sucked into the world of social media too much.

Bye for now… and looking forward to chatting with you soon!
