Steps for Creating Vision and Clarity for the Year Ahead

Updated February 2021

Your VISION helps you see where you are headed.

This, my friend, is called clarity and you need it. Clarity is the opposite of indecision, confusion, and hesitation which are all blocking your ability to achieve your goals. Those issues are a by-product of not having a clear destination in sight. You need to know where you’re headed before you get started or you’ll waste valuable time trying to constantly figure out where you’re at and feeling slightly panicked that you’re lost (which you are because you didn’t know where you were going, to begin with).

Your vision breathes life into your goals!
Your vision keeps you moving forward through obstacles!
Your vision provides focus.
Your vision gives meaning and purpose to what you do.

As a little girl, you believed you could do or be anything that you imagined! Then you grow up… doubt sets in…. you got busy… you forgot to dream big and have vision for your life.

𝓢𝓲𝓼 I’m here to tell you you can do and be anything you ever desire to be.

Having a ᴠɪsɪᴏɴ for your life is so important. I am going to take you through some of the steps that I do with starting off a new year and getting clear.

Get QUIET & STILL.

If you didn’t do that at the end of last December, it’s not too late to do it now. I get quiet with myself and take inventory of my prior year. This is so powerful because you see what was really working for you or not.

I literally go month by month. Ex. So in July 2019… October 2019… Jan 2020

What was working for me?
What was a complete waste of time?
What brought me joy?

I go through each month from the prior year. The most powerful part is implementing the five things that bring you joy. So I want to ask you, what are the five things that actually bring you joy?

Mine are:

  • Dates with husband
  • Movie nights with kids
  • Foot massages
  • Long dinners at amazing restaurants
  • Girls lunch

If you go through life accomplishing all these things without truly enjoying them what is life?

So I try to attach doing at least one or two of these things a week. Of course, not all the time because you have to work and be disciplined but it truly makes a difference! It gives you something to look forward to.

Find a word or theme for the year to focus on.

I also attached a verse or statement to that word. You can find your word through prayer, reading a book, driving along the road, and a single word that pops out from the billboard, through a movie, a friend just speaking to you… It could come to you in any shape or form. However, this word is going to have a very impactful meaning for you. My word this year is 𝕀ℕ𝕋𝔼ℕ𝕋𝕀𝕆ℕ𝔸𝕃. The verse I attached to it was Proverbs 21:5, The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.

This means that when someone is intentional and diligent about what they do their work could have more abundance and blessing. Instead of being unorganized and just drifting through life. What is your word that you can focus on this year that means a lot to you?

I get a new planner for the year.

This is my favorite part. I am obsessed with planners! The planner I’m currently using goes over each month and reviews your personal goals–health, relationship, financial, self-help, and so forth.

Planning gives me energy! If you are a great planner then good for you, it will help you feel more at ease. And if you’re not, connect with someone that is. This will help balance your business and personal life and so forth. I also do Google calendar to keep myself organized but writing down is my preference.

Spiral a Month

I get 12 spiral notebooks for the year. Every month gets a book. On the front of the notebook, I write my goals for the month. On the inside of the notebook, I write a dump list of all the things that are swirling around in my mind. You know, as all moms do! I might put on there specific things that I need to get done for my business, things that need to get done in the house, things that I need to do for my personal life, and so forth. Then what I do next to the list is write a D for what I can delegate and then everything else I obviously know I have to do.

This notebook goes with me everywhere and I do my six most important things-to-do list: six for my home and six for my business. Whatever doesn’t happen rolls over to the next day. Every day has a page in the notebook and it goes with me everywhere. There’s nothing like checking off that you accomplished something. It makes you feel so good.

Work on the thing you are fearful of and face your fear.

Maybe it’s public speaking, working out, money management, etc.

So I hope you enjoyed some of the things that I do to prepare for a new year. I pray blessings and overflow for your business and I hope you accomplish all that you want this year in 2021.

Happy NEW YEAR!
