Storypod: Less Screen Time, More Story Time

If you’re like most parents, you’re constantly torn between entertaining your kids and limiting screen time. With everyone spending extra time at home, it’s more challenging than ever. That’s why we are thrilled to introduce you to what is sure to be the hottest new toy: Storypod! 

How Storypod Works

Storypod offers kids hours of screen-free, educational entertainment. It is a figurine-activated podcast player that helps ‘edutain’ kids screen-free. They offer a library of over 300 original and licensed stories, songs, books and games. It’s bilingual and currently available in English and Spanish. 

To enjoy, kids simply place the figurine — adorable yarn characters with a special chip inside called “Crafties” —  on the Storypod speaker. They’re lightweight and portable, and the Crafties are machine washable. They are as great for car rides as they are for bedtime!

There is also a special figurine called my Craftie. Read your own messages or stories and upload them to the Craftie using the mobile app. It is a great option for parents who have to be away or are short on time. It’s also a wonderful way to include grandparents and other family in story time when they can’t physically be there.

More Than A Toy

Storypod actively stimulates children’s cognition with mini-quizzes and guided prompts on what they hear. Storypod also features read-along books that allow children to develop their literacy skills by following along to immersive narrations. Though marketed to kids three and older, even your littlest little ones will enjoy story time with songs and fairytales, while Crafties like the astronaut offer STEM options for older children.

Created By a Parent Who Knows the Struggle Firsthand

“So here I was finally hitting my stride as a foreign entrepreneur in the US, processing new-parent concerns about screen time, when life throws me a major curveball in the form of lymphoma. While back in Berlin for treatment, I discover my 2-year-old daughter’s obsession with my old audio tapes of amazing German stories — and I have the classic aha moment; I’d create a digital, interactive version of this screenless medium and bring the characters to life with these wonderful yarn figurines my daughter loves to play with,” explains Storypod creator and entrepreneur, Daniel Buelhoff. 

When he couldn’t keep up with his daughters’ continued requests for just one more story at bedtime, he created this new-age storytelling device that they could fall asleep to even when he was away or short on time to read many stories.
