Safe Kids, Happy Moms: Have You Considered Swim Lessons?

We all love Miami because of the beaches and all of the amazing opportunities to get out on the water,  but is all this safe for our kids?

Since we moved to this city my son has been surrounded by water: the sea, pools, lakes, canals and so forth. There is water EVERYWHERE! As mothers we are always concerned for our children’s welfare. Therefore, for their safety and our peace of mind, the best thing we can give our kids is swim lessons.

Choose the style of swim lesson that is best for you.

There are many different options to chooseSafe Kids, Happy Moms: Have You Considered Swim Lessons? Miami Moms Blog from when it comes to swim lessons in Miami. Mommy and me swim classes are a great bonding experience. These are wonderful for babies – who are never too young to learn to be familiar with the water.

All around Miami the City Community Centers offer swim programs for all ages. Prices may vary depending on whether you are a member or not.

There are many companies that provide private and group classes at home pools or condominiums. Gather some friends and you could have a private class at your home or in your neighborhood.  http://www.aquachild.com

Also, there are survival swim classes. These classes are intense courses where children learn how to roll over into a survival floating position in the case of an accident. What a valuable, lifesaving skill to have!

My personal experience with my son was great. He always felt comfortable in the water: fresh or salty, cold or warm, sea or pool, he always felt in his element. Hi teacher, Flor, gave him 30 minute classes twice a week. She is the most loving and caring person. However, she was also firm, if he wanted to play with her many pool toys he would have to practice all of his swim exercises first. Finding the right teacher is so important.

Choose a class that is right for you and your child, but remember the most important thing is that your children are learning skills like floating, being able to reach the stairs and swimming to the side of the pool. These are life saving skills!

Let’s remember, we can never be too cautious around the water.

No matter how well our kids can swim they always need supervision. No one is exempt from an accident and in the water everything happens so fast! Please be aware when your kids are in the sea or at the pool.
