This post is brought to you by our Travel Partners: The Palms Hotel & Spa.
As a kid our family was always at home for Christmas. However, I still fondly remember the one year we decided to change up the tradition and travel to a hotel for Christmas. We took a family vacation and stayed in a beautiful resort – all decked out for Christmas. Sometimes taking the risk to change things up creates meaningful memories!
Now, 25+ years later, my husband and I did something similar this holiday season. We took a pre-Christmas getaway with only our newborn (sorry to the 2 toddlers we left at home!) and we ventured to The Palms Hotel & Spa in Miami Beach. We had a blast creating special memories in this tropical oasis.
The Palms Hotel & Spa
The Palms Hotel & Spa is located on Collins Ave, minutes from the heart of South Beach. The secluded, private beach provides a quiet and relaxing South beach experience. It’s still centrally located if you want to visit surrounding museums, art galleries, or take in the night life down the road on Ocean Drive.
The hotel is intentionally designed to make you feel like you’ve stepped into a tropical island. From the moment you walk into the lobby palm accents greet you around every corner (including the massive lobby Christmas tree decorated in beach hues!) Tropical foliage is everywhere and it’s absolutely beautiful!
Outside there’s a large heated pool, tiki hut, and a handful of poolside cabanas. What more do you need? Did we mention you’re also steps from the pristine beach?
There’s even 2 resident parrots! Chance and Sunshine, are the lucky ones who get to live at The Palms all the time!
Rooms With A View & Environmentally Friendly
The modernly designed guest rooms have floor two ceiling windows so you can enjoy panoramic views of the ocean or city skyline. We loved taking the opportunity to introduce our newborn to the spectacular Miami views from our room (in matching Christmas pj’s of course!). When traveling with kids, I love staying in hotels without balconies because it gives me an extra sense of security when we have the little ones in tow!
The Palms Hotel & Spa is environmentally conscious through initiatives like their quarterly beach clean-ups, reducing, re-using and recycling. They also have an in-house Green Team. Our guest room even had a sink that was powered by flushing the toilet – all in an effort to be environmentally friendly. The Palms was recently ranked #6 by USA Today for Best Eco-Friendly Hotels!
Natural Gourmet Dining
During our stay, each morning we enjoyed breakfast on the outdoor Caribbean-style patio at Essensia Restaurant. Essensia has the fresh, farm-to-table cuisine you would expect from an upscale West Coast eatery. The Chef even has an on-site organic garden! We went all out and enjoyed every single bite. Fresh juices, omelettes made to order and avocado toast are just a few of the (many) breakfast options. South Florida outdoor dining in December? Yes, please!
They don’t call it The Palms Hotel & Spa for nothing! There is a full service Aveda salon and spa on the property and I can speak from experience when it I say, “It is wonderful!” While I didn’t take advantage of the spa on this particular trip, I did visit the property for a prenatal massage a couple of years ago during Miami Spa Month and it’s still the best one I ever had!
