LIVE@Frost Science: A Journey From Guinness World-Record Aviation to Transformative STEM Education

February 21 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Guinness World Record Holder and National Geographic Explorer Captain Barrington Irving describes his globe-circling, life-changing experience.

What’s it like to literally fly around the world? How can a strong STEM education inspire our next generation of scientists?

Join us for a high-flying LIVE@Frost Science on Wednesday, February 21, as aviation expert Captain Barrington Irving presents A Journey From Guinness World-Record Aviation to Transformative STEM Education. During this free event, Captain Irving will describe how he takes an innovative and creative approach to STEM education. By age 23, Captain Irving became the youngest person ever and first black pilot to fly solo around the world in his plane “Inspiration,” which he built himself out of donated airplane parts. Fueled by that experience, he is now shaping the future for students through his nonprofit, Experience Aviation, and The Flying Classroom curriculum. Captain Irving believes a dynamic STEM+ education, partnered with transformational leaders, can help every student fulfill their potential. When this three-time TEDX speaker shares his journey of becoming the youngest and first black man to fly around the world solo in 2007, everyone will be motivated to ask themselves, “Am I becoming the best version of myself?”

Admission is complimentary. Tickets are limited to four per transaction. Program will take place inside the Frost Planetarium.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Program starts promptly at 7:00 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served. Food and beverage will be available for purchase prior to the event.

Please note registration to the event does not include museum admission. Museum exhibitions close at 6:00 p.m.
