Christmas Break Activities: Places to Visit and Things to do in Miami

0

The Christmas holidays are coming up… 16 days of no school. Here are a couple of fun places to discover and things to do around Miami during the winter break!

Fairchild Botanical Garden

This unique tropical garden was created by David Fairchild, one of the most famous plant explorers in history. He traveled the world and collected hundreds of plant varieties from every continent except Antarctica. In 1935, he joined a group of plant collectors and together had the idea to create a unique botanic garden. Fairchild Botanical Garden was born and opened its doors for the first time in 1938.

Covering over 83 acres of land, Fairchild Botanical Garden is home to countless types of plants and flowers. With 18 collections and exhibits going on, from The Edible Garden to an exhibit of more than 40 different species of butterflies, you won’t stop surprising yourself and your young ones.

During the Christmas holidays, you also have the opportunity to visit and be amazed by this magical garden, even after the sun has set! Make plans to visit The Night Garden now through January 6th!

What about some Christmas holiday theater?

I love theater… it might be because my mother used to take me to watch plays and ballets as a very young girl. If you enjoy theater like I do, there are many Christmas plays, musicals and concerts to share with your children all around the city.

Ballerina Christmas Break Activities: Places to Visit and Things to do in Miami Mariela Bonomi Contributor Miami Moms BlogTo make this a full day activity, start with choosing a piece that would suit every member of the family. Leave your car at home. Try a different mode of transportation: train, metro mover, bus or just walk. There is so much to see!!! Choose a location in a new part of the city to get to know the surrounding area and the theater itself. Then, after you’ve enjoyed the show, stay a little longer and try a new restaurant in the area.

Theaters, hotels, and schools now host different Christmas productions, told in many different ways. The Miami Theater website is where I go to check dates, showtimes, ticket prices, and information about other theatrical events coming to Miami.
