Meet Angie Irizarry

Hi Miami Moms, my name is Angie and I am so excited to be part of the Miami Mom Collective contributor team!

Miami

I was born and raised in Miami, to Cuban parents. My first language was Spanglish, and cafecito and croquetas for breakfast was a tradition instilled in me from a young age. This is one of the reasons why I love Miami: the culture! I’ve thought about living in a different city, but I’d miss it too much here. The diversity, picture-perfect weather, pristine beaches and entertainment will always keep me rooted in the 305.

Mom

I’m a wife and mom of two – a 10 year old boy named Matthew Anakin (yes, we are major Star Wars nerds in this family!) and an 8 year old sassy girl named Emmy Grace. At the age of 2, my son was diagnosed with Autism, ADHD and Tourette Syndrome. Living through this experience has taught me that I am capable of more than I thought. Although we often face challenges, we’ve also overcome many obstacles together and for that I’m thankful. My family is my life and I’m so honored to be on this journey together with them.

I am blessed to say that although my job as a Hotel Sales Manager is highly demanding, I have the privilege of working from my home office. This has afforded me the opportunity to do what I love, while maintaining a balance and being present for my family at the same time. However, it was evident that something was missing in my life: friendship. I longed for friendships with mommas who I can turn to and connect with. Enter Miami Mom Collective. When they advertised a Book Club on their Instagram Page, I took a leap of faith and signed up. The result was surprising: I was welcomed with open arms by the coolest group of Miami moms I have ever met. I am so thankful for this new community and I’m looking forward to continuing to cultivate this bond with this amazing group of ladies!
