The heat on our skin, our toes slipped into our year-round chancletas, crispy croquetas, our afternoon cafecitos, the healing ocean shoreline, a rich color palette and Celia Cruz playing in the background.
When I close my eyes and think “all things Miami,” this is where my mind wanders off to. Every time I cross the Broward County line into Miami, a smirk takes over my face.
I’ve lived here my entire 33-year-old life, and Miami still makes me feel this way. Miami runs through my Cuban-American blood which is why I’m thrilled to be part of the incredible community that we have in Miami Moms Blog. Alongside the other contributors, it’s an honor to serve you as a Mother and Miami Native.
Hi, my name is Janelle Fuente.
I’m a lively personality with contagious kindness and a lover of encouraging others. We’re all going through real, raw and hard things, so why not do it together and cheer one another on?
If we were going out for a girls night together, I’d most likely suggest tacos + margaritas at a local spot and if we were hanging out on my couch at Casa Fuente, we’d most likely end up with wine in-hand and an organic facial mask on our faces.
I’m an advocate for pressing pause on the daily hustle to enjoy life and the people that are right in front of us. My life used to be fast-paced (like really fast) and I intentionally changed that a few years ago for a slow-ish life that I can be present for. I believe in working harrrd. I also believe that life’s sweetest moments are often found in the golden moments that we slow down and savor who and what we already have.

I’ve known my husband since we were 15 years old. I’ll save our story for an in-person chat (I’ll see you at Bloom!). Yet, here we are 18 years later with a home and a 4-year-old daughter. We are being adults, paying a mortgage and living out the dreams that once seemed far off into the distance to us. They’re now our reality and we’re beyond grateful for that. Our 4-year-old girl, Olivia Grace, is a curly-haired, lively combo of sassiness and sweetness and she lights up our world.
I started my career in Marketing + Hospitality before my FIU Diploma was put in my hand. Building my career has been hard, awesome and rewarding. It’s been marked by having jobs that felt bigger than I was every step of the way. And that’s how I’ve learned.
Two years ago I decided to become a full-time entrepreneur. Since then I’ve worked through the hard changes that come along with a new season of life. I look back now to that girl in her twenties, shaking in her (Devil Wears Prada) trouser pants at her first “big girl job” and I smile.

Now I fill my days with spurring on women like you and me to press the pause button and care for their skin + soul through our local, family-owned Skin Studio and now through Miami Moms Blog! You can count on me to show up for you. I will not only to share helpful finds that will add a little joy to our day-to-day but I will also be a new friend to you and make this big vibrant city seem just a little smaller.
