Chocolate? Flowers? A spa day? Not sure exactly what to get that special mom in your life? Well, you’re in luck, because we’ve compiled a complete list of what moms really want on Mother’s Day:
1. Going to the bathroom without an audience.
We don’t need a play-by-play or audio commentary from a little critic that came out of the very body that is currently excreting unmentionable things, so keep the kids busy while mommy enjoys her royal date with the porcelain throne.
2. A hot, uninterrupted shower or bath.
We want the entire water heater tank poured straight into the tub for us to enjoy at our leisure. No popping in to ask where the pink sippy cup is or where we keep the spare diapers. We just want to enjoy hot water on our bodies in complete solitude.
3. Croquetas, doughnuts, or our favorite meal or treats.
We want to enjoy it, so buy ten of each thing. Why? Because we don’t want to watch our children eat our favorite meal or treat. We want to actually eat it and enjoy it!
4. Quiet.
Just five glorious minutes of no one telling us we forgot to cut the crust off a sandwich or having a tantrum because we washed that stuffed animal that was this close to being worthy only of the dumpster.
5. A nap.
Let us sleep as long as Rip Van Winkle. So what if we wake up 20 years later? We’ll still have sleep to catch up on.
6. An uninterrupted phone call.
Whether we want to talk to our mother, best friend, or therapist, let us speak for five minutes or five hours – however long it takes us to have just one conversation with a beginning, a middle, and an end.
7. A cold/hot beverage.
Whether we choose iced tea, hot tea, hot coffee, iced coffee, etc. we just want our drink to be the temperature it’s supposed to be throughout our drinking experience. We don’t want to sit down to enjoy a hot cup of tea, then have to get up to go wipe a little butt, only to come back to some room-temperature, flavored water.
Now that you know what we really want, go forth and give that mom who just needs a break exactly what she wants this Mother’s Day.
Have a happy one, lovely!
Love,
P.S. Is this list not complete? Leave us a comment and tell us what we missed.
Great list! I totally want all of those too! Lol
Thanks, Barbara!
This list was the result of a bunch of moms putting their ideas together. I just had the privilege of writing it.
Have a very happy Mother’s Day! <3
