Miami Moms Blog is excited to partner with Cirque du Soleil to bring our readers a review of their newest and first ever ice show: CRYSTAL!
My husband and I had the privilege of attending the opening night of Cirque Du Soleil’s CRYSTAL. We had excellent seats with a full view of the stage and the ice rink. The mood created by the set was absolutely dreamlike! While waiting for the show to start we were anxiously pondering how the typical gymnastic activities would be woven into the ice skating.
The preshow was led by super instrumentalists who laid a grand backdrop to the set and the story. There was a clownish skater who delighted the crowd with his antics. He effected crowd participation which kept the kids as well as adults laughing constantly.
The story began with a flurry of activity by the 60 plus members of the cast. The choreography was innovative and complicated, athletic, challenging and always had more than one focus. This required the crowd to pay attention carefully so as not to miss any of the story being woven by the fast paced, energetic demonstrations. The musicians kept a driving beat and the crowd was always on the edge of their seats making sure they kept up.
Featuring skating, juggling, trapeze, ice dancing, tremendous shows of strength, acrobatics on ice skates and accurate teamwork, Cirque du Soleil Crystal satisfied the appetites of everyone in the audience.
I enjoyed the evening and entertainment immensely! I would recommend Cirque du Soleil’s CRYSTAL for adults, families and children elementary and up. It’s a show you will be sad if you missed! Catch it while you can at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.
