Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and Urgent Care Centers are Open to Serve Children in the Community
With the safety and well-being of our patients and their families as its first priority, Nicklaus Children’s has resumed services at the hospital and most of its outpatient locations.
Enhanced Safety Measures Across All Locations
Nicklaus Children’s has enhanced safety measures by implementing new policies that include screenings at entrances, limited visitors, enhancing cleaning protocols and physical distancing cues in common areas. Remember to wear a mask and ensure children over the age of two wear a mask, too.
Elective surgeries and minor procedures have resumed both on the hospital’s main campus and the ambulatory surgery center located on the FIU campus. For everyone’s safety, patients are tested for COVID-19 as part of the pre-operative testing and clearance.
Pediatric subspecialists are seeing patients in the offices, with enhanced safety measures. These include spaced appointments, mask procedures, hand sanitizing stations, social distancing cues in waiting areas and deep cleaning of exam rooms between appointments. Telehealth Specialists Available
For those who wish to visit their child’s physician virtually, appointments with select pediatric specialists are available through our telehealth program, depending on the condition and type of consultation. Click here for more information on how to schedule an appointment.
Pediatric Urgent Care Centers & The Emergency Department
Most Nicklaus Children’s pediatric urgent care centers have also resumed operations and are open every day from 11 am-10 pm. Nicklaus Children’s has pediatric urgent care locations throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties to treat children and adolescents with minor injuries and illnesses. Although South Florida continues to observe physical distancing measures to keep our little ones safe, accidents can still happen. The Emergency Department at Nicklaus Children’s reminds families to use their best judgement and seek care when a child is ill or injured. The Emergency Department has taken precautions to maintain safety by adding a screening at the entrance, hand sanitizing stations, physical distancing cues and the implementation of several zones for types of conditions.
