Shopping for any teenage girl is no easy task. You need the “perfect” outfit to match the “perfect” shoes in the “perfect” color. When I asked my 13 year old stepdaughter to tell me what kind of toys she is in to, I got THE stare. THAT stare that read, “I’m not a baby” without her even having to say it.

“She’s 13 and she approved this message.”

My stepdaughter (like most teenagers) is very vocal and will let you know her thoughts on everything. I’m happy to report that each of these toy reviews were pre-approved by her. When I asked what her reasons were behind her suggestions, she stated that all her choices were based on what’s trendy and fun.

She tends to lean more towards activities that require more than one person. At this age, its difficult to know when we as parents are welcomed to “play” with their “toys” with them. When I asked her if these were “toys” that she would like to play with us. She replied “Sure. If my friends aren’t over.” A small victory in deed! 

Another factor was practicality. She stated that she also enjoyed the more conversational piece items. Things that she can share with her friends and talk about in depth. For example, the presidential eraser. She’s in 7^th grade and just started civics this year. She is sure that it will spark a conversation once November’s presidential election rolls around.

There were other items on the list that she stated were “pretty” or “cool”. Music to any parent of teenager’s ears! We’ve already bookmarked a good chunk of the list for her upcoming birthday and Christmas. She even suggested some things she knows her friends would appreciate and we saved those too for future gifts.

I didn’t think toys would still be a staple at this very tender and sensitive year in a girl’s life. But so happy we found a website that makes us enjoy more family time together!
