Hey Mommas! My name is Luana Peixoto and I feel so blessed to get to be a part of the contributor team for Miami Mom Collective.

Miami

So I was born in Miami, but I was raised and currently live in Key Largo, Florida… just a short drive south (unless it’s a holiday weekend in which it can become a pretty long drive south). I often visit the “mainland” with my children simply because there is a wider variety of things to do in Miami. We love going to the zoo, strawberry picking, visiting different parks and museums, and finding cute yummy places to eat. For us visiting Miami is an all-day adventure.

Mom

At my kindergarten graduation when I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my response was “a mommy”. Becoming a mom and getting to raise a family has been a lifelong dream of mine. My husband and I planned, saved money, and waited until we had some stability before becoming pregnant. Well when my daughter turned one, COVID lockdowns happened. At the time both my husband and I were furloughed from work. Since then we’ve both opened businesses and managed to move forward, but I know that so many of us struggle with the right time or the best time to start a family. I have stressed so much over those kinds of decisions. What becoming a mom during this season has taught me is to focus on gratitude and being responsible but also learn to roll with the punches. It is not easy but it is worth it.

My oldest daughter is now almost 5 years old and my youngest daughter is 2. They are the sassiest smartest little girls and they bring so much joy to our lives.

Collective

One of my best mommy friends won tickets to Cookies with Santa and I was able to go with her. My children had an absolute blast! We have been following the Miami Mom Collective ever since.

I believe that part of becoming a healthy, mature adult is having accountability within close safe friendships. Our role as mothers is heavy with responsibility and we will not always get it right. I want to walk alongside other moms to learn and grow with one another.

We got this, Mommas!
