Miami Mom Collective Welcomes MIA Mom Holly Farver

Hi Miami Moms, my name is Holly Farver. My grandkids call me Mimi, a name I wear proudly. It’s crazy how you blink and one day you have a newborn and the next you’re holding your adult child’s newborn. I’m so thankful that Miami Mom Collective has a heart for the grandmother’s voice.

MIAMI

I’ve traveled to a lot of places in the U.S. and internationally and always think how grateful I am to have been born and raised in South Florida. I was born in Hialeah to my Puerto Rican/Colombian dad and my blonde, blue-eyed Irish mom. I’ve always been proud of my melting pot heritage.

Diversity in this city and all the beauty that comes with it is what I love the most about Miami. The beaches come in a close second favorite. And you can’t beat the year-round sunshine. The beach is my favorite place to go for the calming and disconnect it provides. My husband moved here from Michigan to attend college. Believe it or not, we flipped a coin early in the marriage to decide where we would plant our family roots. Thank God the coin landed on heads for Miami. Honestly, I don’t think my husband minded giving up the crazy winters.

MOM

Motherhood is one of the greatest gifts I feel that God has ever given me. My husband and I have two children. Our oldest son Corey was born in the same hospital that I was born in, Hialeah Hospital. He is now married to his beautiful wife, Jamie. Our daughter Amber was born in Hialeah, but at Palmetto General Hospital, three years after her brother. She is married to her amazing husband, Tyler. Each couple had a baby in 2018 making my husband and me grandparents for the first time. As a family, we are all lovers of everything Disney. We have spent many family vacations at that magical home away from home. And we enjoy cheering on the Miami Heat and the Miami Dolphins.

I can stand here today and say that I have survived many of the roughest stages of motherhood. From potty training to first days of kindergarten, from teaching them to drive to leaving them at college hundreds of miles away. As I navigated these years of motherhood, I often wondered if I would be successful. My faith in God helped me in my role as a mom. I had peace that He heard my prayers. And I am fortunate to say my children share my faith and live their lives out each day giving back.

My Family

COLLECTIVE

If you were to attend any of my large family gatherings, you would hear the DJ play “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge.  It is like our family theme song, and it is a mantra that I love to live by. I am excited to join this new family called Miami Mom Collective. I not only get to share my motherhood and family journey alongside some amazing contributors, I also get to meet other moms and learn from their journey. No matter what stage of motherhood that we are in, there is always something to learn and begin to love about ourselves. Motherhood ROCKS!
