Making weekend plans? Or looking for things to do while the kids are home from school? We are too 😉 That’s why we curated this collection of free and cheap kids’ activities in and around Miami.
So reheat that coffee, take a look, and get out there. There’s a ton of family-friendly fun to be had without breaking the bank!
Monthly Home Depot Workshops
Home Depot offers FREE workshops for kids every first Saturday of the month from 9 am to 12 pm. The type of project varies each month. We have built a rescue boat and a wooden tank with our son in the past. This is a great activity to bond with your child(ren). Home Depot will provide all the needed tools to assemble the kits such as hammers, screwdrivers, colors, etc. They sometimes even offer snacks and juices for the little ones. If you’re rushed for time but still want to do the activity with your child(ren), you can swing by and take one of the kits home. You can look up your local Home Depot online and register in advance to make sure you snag one of the popular kits.
Sugar Sand Park + Science Explorium
Sugar Sand Park is a park like no other where you can spend the whole day with the family. There’s a big science playground divided into sections for smaller and older kids. There’s a fun splash pad where kids can get refreshed in the Miami heat. On weekends, the kiddos can hop on a carousel ride for $1. There’s also a free science museum called the Science Explorium in the park. The kids can learn a lot of fun and interesting things here as well as try out a lot of experiments. Furthermore, there are walking trails with a butterfly garden. If you’re into sports, you can use one of the many ball courts. In the mood to relax a bit with AC? No problem. Sugar Sand Park is also home to the Willow Theatre where you can buy tickets online for a movie or play.
