Hello mamas! My name is Jackie Fiat and I am super excited to join this amazing mom community and be a part of Miami Mom Collective (MMC)!
Miami
I was born and raised in Miami and come from Colombian and Peruvian nationality. Safe to say I grew up eating REALLY good food and being forced to dance to Spanish music at a very young age! I’m a true Miami girl who loves her cafecito, the beach and of course, the sun shining year-round (well almost year-round…).
I am guilty of sometimes saying I’d love to explore a different city, but honestly living in Miami my whole life and raising my children here is so amazing to watch. Miami is a huge melting pot and there is nothing more beautiful than seeing so many different types of people blend as one. I know raising my children here, they will be able to have the same experience I’ve had learning about so many different cultures. I always say Miami is sort of like its own country because of the uniqueness it brings.
As some people say, “The best thing about Miami is how close it is to the United States.” #IYKYK
Mom
I married my husband, Johansson, in 2017 in Medellin, Colombia. We met in high school (Go Cavs!) and began dating shortly after graduating in 2008. Yep, I pretty much just exposed my age there BUT I am a proud Millennial.
We got pregnant with our son, Nathan, in 2020, literally two weeks before the COVID-19 quarantine occurred. It was a difficult time for us as it was for everyone, but to experience your first pregnancy during those tough times was not an easy journey. Having to go to all the doctor’s appointments alone and not being able to see my loved ones was tough mentally, but with my husband beside me, I was able to get through it.
In August 2022, we decided it was time to make our family a party of four and found out we were pregnant with our daughter, Camila. My second pregnancy was harder on my body than my first pregnancy, but thankfully the pandemic was no longer and I was able to enjoy the pregnancy with my loved ones and was able to eat out!
Collective
I first learned about Miami Mom Collective (MMC) when I had my son. I felt like I needed a community where fellow moms knew and were possibly going through the same drastic change in life I had just experienced while becoming a first-time mom. In all transparency, I do struggle with big life changes and adapting, so to be able to know there was a community that existed for women who possibly were struggling with the same things I was, was life-changing.
I remember the very moment when I found the MMC Instagram account, I was pumping and going through it emotionally and when I began to scroll through the account, my spirits were lifted in just a few minutes!
I am so excited I am now a part of such an amazing team of women who are here to serve the community and build it positively. As a small business owner and a SAHWM, I am a strong believer in women supporting women and I know that joining this community as a contributor will allow me to help other women and support them in many different ways! Also, a great perk is knowing I will have more mom friends!
